I’m Sorry It Took Me So Long To Respond...I’m In Work-Life-Crisis.

It is hard enough balancing work and life but, what happens when there is also crisis?

I have my schedule perfectly crafted.

✔Maintain clients

✔Grow business

✔Speaking engagement

✔Spend time with boyfriend

✔Lunch with best friend

✔Grocery shop

✔Work out

✔Do hair

✔Wash clothes

….breathe.

Yes, my calendar is LIKE THAT!

So you could imagine how I’ve felt now that my calendar has turned topsy turvy.

One personal event after another and I’ve found myself holding on by a string.

Responding to non urgent texts two days later, unfulfilled call backs, no time for my business, only time for client work.

Too tired to explain to my friends why I have been m.i.a. or make excuses why I haven’t been present.

A part of me wanted to make a FB status to the tune, “Bria is out of order until further notice”

But, everyone would have thought I was playing and respond with that stupid laughing emoji.

So, I didn’t bother.

No one would have understood. Partially, because I am never out of order.

Partially, because most of the people in my life still do not understand that self-employed does not mean unemployed…no matter how many times I try to make it abundantly clear.

They think that when I am scrolling on my phone during dinner I am on Baller Alert or Shaderoom (well, sometimes I am) but most of the time I am scheduling posts, responding to emails, and making sure my life hasn’t been obliterated while I wasn’t looking.

Crisis happened to me.

Crisis impacted my business.

Crisis will happen to you.

Crisis may impact your business, too.

The truth is, no matter how calculated your calendar is, things will happen in your life that will leave you “making it work”.

Even when you’re broken and no longer work, you still must make it work.

Although I do not quite have this thing figured out I’ve been trying to eliminate stress by watching a lot less CNN (because it’s stressful OKAY), telling myself that this is only temporary, staying organized, and I’ve been allocating.

I am blessed to have two subcontractors in my business Mea and Samantha. They may not even know that they have helped me out so much by taking care of the tasks that would have weighed me down while trying to hold my life together.

I just NEED to say thank you.

Being a boss means to know when to call in backup.

Being a boss means to know when you have reached your breaking point.

Being a boss means remaining accountable even when you are drained.

Being a boss means to figure out how to grow even during transition.

If a crisis happened to you tomorrow, How would your business survive??

I am glad I had my insurance policy in place before the crisis happened. MY TEAM!
